Welcome to Mini Masters Art Studio

Here at Mini Masters, we see things a little differently. We don't just teach art for art's sake, we focus on the process and the benefits of creativity on the complete development of each student. We believe that everyone has a creative streak and that it's never too late to unlock it!

What IS Process Art?

Process art is the creative sentiment that the end product of art alone, should not be the principal focus. The 'process' refers to the process of the formation of art: the gathering, sorting, patterning, and moreover the initiation of actions and proceedings. Process art is concerned with the actual doing and creating - art as form of individual expression. Art is viewed as a creative journey or process, rather than as a deliverable or end product only.  Process art is developmentally appropriate for children because it meets them where they are as sensory explorers.

The Benefits of Process Art

There are so many benefits to teaching process art to children! Through process art, children learn...

  • to think creatively, independently, and imaginatively

  • about the physical limitations and possibilities of materials

  • to use creative and critical thinking skills

  • to realize their own ideas and build confidence

  • to ask questions, experiment, and take risks

  • to embrace mistakes as opportunities and part of the learning process

Ages 8 - 10

Children at this stage are beginning to become more critical of their own work. Let us help build their confidence as budding artists by providing the tools and projects that will excite rather than frustrate this process. We will continue to instruct in a variety of mediums to enrich each child's sensory development. Projects are tailored to each student's individual needs. All skills levels welcome.

Ages 11 - 13

At this age, art students can become very critical of their own success. Success to them, is determined by the level of realism achieved in their drawing. Frustration is common, so it is especially important to keep encouraging students. Lessons will focus more on attention to detail with an emphasis on drawing to achieve realism. Projects are still tailored to each student's individual needs and skill level.

Teens

This stage of artistic development is perhaps the most critical to the development of an artist. In these teen years, a student will decide to continue drawing or view it as an activity without merit. Due to inherent self criticism at this stage, many young adults view artistic ability as a skill they either do, or do not, possess. We encourage students to continue drawing despite their level of skill. Any skill level can be attained with consistent practice.

Adults

Our adult classes cater to all skill levels - the "frustrated" artist, the "I can't even draw a stick figure" artist, the "crafter", the "I wish I could paint" artist, and even accomplished artists who want to learn new techniques or explore a new medium. Classes will be offered on specific techniques and tailored to each student's level of skill.
